It's been a year since this began... OK, actually the first - Spanish - strip was posted on
January 29th, but I didn't want to celebrate this till now... Why? Because I wanted to prepare some things before and other business before I could celebrate anything.
And I also wanted to prepare something to say for this first anniversary.
Y'know... I created this comic a year (and two days :P) ago as a way to entertain myself, inspired by Deed's and Defriki's strips, and because I wanted to draw something, as I didn't draw anything for a long while. Besides that I wanted to make some comic - and freak - strips... but never imagined it would last this long.
Madness in the Lair is proud of being one year old. It has evolved from black and white mediocre - even if it was funny - strips to more colorful panels and some of them with backgrounds... backgrounds, I say!
"Geekery" has also increased a lot. And I wanted to limit it a bit, but you see: some things get out of control.
Also this comic was good for showing new characters of mine (Yaiba & Monty), rescuing other ones I nearly forgot for years (Fëadraug and specially Clara) and focusing in a funny way on characters people already know (Sekhmet, Sacmis & Mordekaim). And for seeing this crazy guys living in the same flat with me and also certain Silent Hill monster. And if it wasn't enough, we have a weird neighborhood, with known and unknown characters and other characters I created. And cameos! Lots of cameos!
People has remarked not only its madness and weird aspects, but also the characters' relationship and the drawings' evolution. I've also received feedback as tips for improving and radical comments against me. So yeah, there's been some feedback, more than I expected - at least in the Spanish version and in the English version in Sheezy Art, since there's nearly no feedback here... Maybe the main factor for the Spanish version has been joining the WEE (Webcómics en español - Webcomics in Spanis) community, so I could know about other webcomics and, in some way, get influenced by them, but mantaining the comic's original essence that makes it so odd and special.
What will come next? First, even though I'll be studying abroad next year - dunno if it'll be in either England or Sweden -, I hope we'll have a second anniversary celebration. Second, I want to include new situations (maybe the new neighbor that will come with the casting story arc will help for that... or not :P), reducing the amount of cameos and geek facts, creating a long saga (Fraggin' Rabbids anybody?)... Well, there are lots of things in mind, but let's see how many will be done.
So there's only one thing to say now...
HAPPY FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF MADNESS!!
